20+ Years of Specialization
Two decades focused on custom carpentry, not a side gig, not a recent pivot. Deep, hard-earned skill.
About Ground Roots
Ground Roots is a one-craftsman custom carpentry workshop. For more than two decades, it's built made-to-order furniture and woodwork: tables, chairs, shelving and everything in between, for people who wanted something specific, and wanted it done right.
Not a hobbyist. Not a general contractor who "also does a bit of woodwork." This is a specialist who has spent twenty years getting one thing right: building solid, lasting pieces to a client's exact spec.
The Story Behind The Name
Groundroots is named for my dad. He's the one who first put tools in my hands, growing up. Construction, carpentry, all of it. Everything I know about building started on a job site standing next to him.
He didn't just show me how to cut a joint or hang a door. He taught me to care about how it got done, whether anyone was watching or not. I lost him, but I carry that with me into every piece I build.
I named the shop Groundroots to remember that. To remember my roots, and where I came from. So the quality and focus that go into every single project aren't just about the work. It's how I honour him, and how I try to make him proud.
“When your roots are strong, you fear no wind.”
What Sets The Work Apart
Two decades focused on custom carpentry, not a side gig, not a recent pivot. Deep, hard-earned skill.
Premium, made-to-last work. Solid materials, real joinery, finishes done properly, the opposite of disposable furniture.
No product line, no catalog. Every piece is built to your spec, sized, styled and finished for one home: yours.
The Reputation
For twenty years, every single job came from a referral, one satisfied client telling the next. That's the strongest kind of reputation there is. This site simply makes it possible for someone new to find that same craftsman, and see the work for themselves.
